Royal Palace - royal chapel
One of the most attractive rooms for the Royal Palace is its Royal Chapel. The chapel sits in the north wing of the building. It contains 16 giant columns made of gray marble. The exquisite chapel also features frescoes by Corrado Giacinto and an altar piece designed by Raphael Mengs. Adjacent to the Royal Chapel are two additional rooms that contain the Royal Treasury of Holy Relics and many other fine antique works of art. History of the Royal Palace dates back to the 14th Century when it was built on the site where the Alcazar of Madrid once stood.
